Famoro and Kakande

A performance and fundraiser

Famoro Diouabté is recognized as one of West Africa’s most talented and graceful balafon players. Hailing from Conakry, Guinea, his band, Kakande has been creating contagious Manding grooves for New York fans for over 15 years. Kakande combines balafon with guitar, bass, drum set, cello, djembe and vocals. This evening is a special benefit concert/farewell for Famoro, who is returning to Guinea for the first time in over 20 years. All proceeds will help him make the two-month journey to his homeland. You can purchase your ticket and donate to receive some amazing video footage from Guinea:
