In March 2023, the British-Jamaican author Jacqueline Crooks's debut novel Fire Rush was published by Penguin Random House to widespread acclaim. The book is a semi-autobiographical work set in the sound system scenes of London and Bristol during the 1970s and '80s, with a later section unfolding in rural Jamaica. Shine Eye Girl was released in 1979 by Barrington Levy Jamaica this DJ and vocalist/producer, Junjo Lawes and New York-based producer Hyman “Jah Life” Wright at King Tubby’s studio, accompanied by the Roots Radics.
Mash Down Rome Dub with Yabby You & Michael Prophet and produced by Yabby You. It was mixed by King Tubby song by Michael George Haynes, known professionally as Michael Prophet. Vivian Jackson, also known as Yabby You who produced the song along with several others including Haynes. The song was released in 1979 with two different versions of the song, and would later be re-released that same year with a dub version called “Dub Down Rome.” Mash Down Rome was later released alongside another song by Michael Prophet, “Love and Unity” under the label “Grove Muzic” in 1980. The song is religious in nature, stressing upon the values of righteousness and peace reflecting upon Michael Prophet’s Rastafari beliefs.
I Threes "Many Are Called Few Are Chosen." Inspired by scripture and Rastafarianism, "For Many Are Called, But Few Are Chosen" is inspired by Matthew 22:14 in The Bible. I Threes was a Jamaican reggae group formed in 1974 by three women to back up Bob Marley & The Wailers and were Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths. The name of the band is inspired by the Rastafarian concept "I and I" which represents the divinity within each person.
