The Musical Legacy of Al Andalus, Part 3: Reverberations

The third installment in Afropop Worldwide’s Hip Deep series on the musical legacy of Al Andalus returns to Europe to explore connections between Arab music and Flamenco, and considers how events in Al Andalus set the stage for the exploration of the New World starting in 1492. The program also features Sephardic Jewish music in Morocco and Israel, and shows how Sufi Islam has been a powerful force in preserving Andalusian music in Morocco and Syria. Produced by Banning Eyre.
