More On The West Indian American Day Carnival

*Sep 07 - 00:05*

Yesterday we brought you a listing of WIAD sponsored events, but there’s always more Carnival to report on in NYC. Here’s a look at the rest of the celebrations happening around the city this weekend.

Hot 97’s got a real happening on their hands up at the Hammerstein Ballroom, where they’re hosting their On Da Reggae Tip 2013. They’ve got a big bill put together with a few artists you may have heard of, like Beenie Man, Damian & Stephen Marley, Cham, Mavado, Konshens, I-Octane, Gyptian and more! The show starts tomorrow, Friday, August 30th, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $65, which is pretty heavy, but look at that bill and try to make the argument that it’s not worth it.

Be sure to hit up the official On Da Reggae Tip 2013 after party at B.B. King’s later that night. DJ Camilo, Massive B, and Dlife will be playing strictly the best reggae, soca, hip hop, and r&b all night. When the flier says, “Ladies free until 112 am with a flag,” you know the party is going to be one for the books. On top of that, all of the artists playing the concert earlier that day will be there, so get ready to party with Beenie Man, the Marley boys, and more. Damn!

Barclays gets into the Carnival game in a big way with The Caribbean Fever Music Festival. Wyclef Jean himself headlines Friday night along with Kassav, Djakout #1, Tabou Combo and more. Saturday gets crazy with Super Blue, Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Edwin Yearwood, Iwer George, Alison Hinds, and Talpree. Sunday keeps the temperature up with Damian Marley, Shabba Ranks, I-Octane, Lady Saw and more. The show starts at 8 pm each nice, and you can find tickets for the whole weekend here.

Long Island also got a lot going on this Saturday, as Shaggy (!!!), Beenie Man, Elephant Man, and Konshens take the Pennysaver Amphitheater for Caribfest 2013. The concert is happening from 3 to 10 pm, so if you go the extra mile and play your cards right you could catch most of this and the Hot 97 event.
