MUSIC AND CULTURE IN THE NEW SOUTH AFRICA This program celebrates South Africa's Freedom Day, which commemorates the historic 1994 elections for a new, post-apartheid, democratic South Africa. We encore a program produced during that era, featuring music and interviews with musicians expressing their hopes and fears for the new country, and then we fast forward to 2002 to hear what's happening today and to hear from artists how they see their country's progress nearly ten years on.
