Afropop Hall of Fame 2005

On October 27, 2005 Afropop Worldwide inducted Senegalese superstar and Grammy Award winner
Youssou N’Dour and his band members in Super Etoile into the Afropop Hall of Fame.
Porto Musical 2005 in Recife Brazil

Afropop Worldwide traveled to Recife in Brazil's culturally rich Northeast at carnaval time for
the innaugural edition of Porto Musical conference and festival. This conference featured
outstanding artists in the coco, ciranda, forro roots pop traditions. We visit the town of Nazare
da Mata for Carnaval festivities.
Strictly Mundial comes to Montréal

Afropop Worldwide trekked north of the border to Montreal for Strictly Mundial 2005--a three day marathon.
Some 30 world artists were presented. North American debuts of the extraordinary performers, such as
Dobet Gnaore from the Ivory Coast, South African singer and guitarist Vusi Mahlasela and Colombian singer Lucia Pulido, Adalberto Alvarez y Su Son from Cuba, H'Sao from Chad, and other artists.
Africa In America: The Artists that keep the music alive!

As part of Afropop Worldwide's ongoing series on African music being made in America--including "African Music in America Talent Search" and "Mixing It Up", we present to you "Africa in America-2005" celebrating the latest crop of African musicians living in the U.S. and all musicians working on African music collaborations.
Help for the Musicians of New Orleans

Our thoughts and prayers continue with the people of New Orleans. With plans on the horizon for this historical city to present Mardi Gras and the continuing efforts to restore and rebuild, we must keep attention focused on the "Big Easy" during it's recovery.
