Afropop Worldwide is delighted to announce the release of its first ever video feature!
Through Afropop's sponsorship and support, Afropop interns and MODIBA Productions founders Eric Herman and Jesse Brenner produced exclusive film shoots of back-to-back Oumou Sangare concerts in New York earlier this summer. The July 7th and 8th concerts took place, respectively, at S.O.B.'s night club in downtown Manhattan and BAM/Metrotech Park in Brooklyn.
Oumou's explosive performance was beautifully captured on digital media by videographer/director/editor Joe Wilson and sound engineer Dave Ahl, as Oumou comported herself not only as one of the world's premiere singing sensations, but also as a world class entertainer--her love and energy were infectious.
"I realized at the S.O.B.'s show that the handheld video approach really worked well to capture the emotional asthetic," reflected Wilson. "Only after shooting the S.O.B.'s concert did I realize that I could make a music video of sorts out of it. Then the outdoor show at Metrotech and the interview with Oumou made everything blow up."
And boy, did it ever...
