Baaba Maal & Mansour Seck inducted into Afropop Hall of Fame

We were honored to be able to induct Baaba Maal and Mansour Seck into the Afropop Hall of Fame this Sunday at S.O.B’s in New York. Baaba and his band gave a sublime nearly two hour concert. And then it was my turn to speak on behalf of Afropop fans around the world our thanks to Baaba and Mansour for their music, their spirit, their inspiration. Dame Babou from the Senegalese community spoke on behalf of the Senegalese community. And Baaba spoke movingly his thanks to Mansour for inviting him into the world of music at a young age in Podor in the north of Senegal. Baaba also thanked “the important work of Afropop” throughout the years. Check out some photos from the event. A full report will be out next week.
"Afropop is important for me because they bring a lot from the motherland. You can discover the music, the people, the colors, the dancing, everything that is important in my life, your life. Please help keep Afropop alive. Jerry Jeff! (Thank you!)"
