Belizean musician Bredda David Obi (creator of Kungo music), has set out to popularize his own original style of music, called "Driftin Muzik." Indio combines reggae with African elements and percussion. At age 12, Ras Indio was already playing keyboards in Belize in his father\'s band, Tribal Vibes. He spent his teenage years touring the world as a musician, before moving to the United States, where he had been born.

Back in the United States, Indio formed Wood Dwellas, a Belizean hip-hop/dancehall group. They shuttled between the USA and Belize, gigging and recording two albums before calling it quits.

It was then that Ras Indio moved back to Belize to pursue a solo career. He built his own recording studio, and started his own label, Indigenous Productions, under which he released his first solo disc, "Free Up Mi Nation." He won the award for "Best Belizean Reggae/Dancehall Artist" in 2005, and his song, "Wild, Wild West" is used by Belize as an anti-violence anthem.
