Henri-Pierre Koubaka, who hosts KALW-FM's Kumpo Beat, leads his band that he calls "ancient and contemporary Mandingo and Kongo rhythms." In addition to Koubaka, the Kasumai Bare band features Sengalese percussionist Babou Sagna, Guinean choreographer Mariet Camara, guitarist Ze Manel from Guinea Bissua, and guitarist/balafonist Mohamed Kouyate from Guinea.
