Emeline Michel
Born: Unknown, Haiti

Modern Haitian song queen having played throughout the Caribbean, Europe, North & South America, and Africa, Emeline was hailed as the "new goddess of Creole Music" after her success in the Caribbean. She started singing gospel in the local church, and eventually went to the US to study music. Her success brought her deals with record companies in Canada, France and the US, so she decided to take charge of herself by creating her own production company. Her latest album, Cordes et Ame, is the acoustic guitar and her beatiful vocals backed by modern and traditional Haitian rhythms. The album sold a record number of copies and won Haitian Music awards for Best Haitian Album and Best Production in 2000.
