Lokua has a very distinct style to his music, noted for his high-pitch voice. He began singing in a church choir and started out his career in Paris working with some big names in African music such as Papa Wembe and Angelique Kidjo.

He performs with Julia Sarr on vocals and Didi Ekukuan doing percussion and vocals. He was recently awarded the South African Kora Award for his original work.
