Group Doueh Zayna Jumma Sublime Frequencies , 2011

This band from the Western Sahara switches between a spare, rootsy sound featuring vocals, percussion, and the tidinit lute, and a more electric sound with gnarly guitar, fast and roaring in a darkly edgy mode. There are both male and female vocals, sometimes solo, sometimes in soaring unison. Recorded on location in desert, this CD takes you there. No authenticity has been sacrificed, but the recording is excellent just the same.
