The Immortal ’70s

The 1970s was a golden age for pop music around the world, and certainly in Africa. Re-releases have for the first time made some of this music available again. Georges plays songs from some of his favorites–including artists new to many Afropop fans including the Green Arrows, Ebo Taylor, Sorry Bamba, Balla & Ses Balladins and others. [Produced by Banning Eyre. Originally aired in 2005]

I definitely prefer the older African music such as in this show. Modern African borrows, imitates, too much reggae and now rap. It’s losing it’s soul as it becomes too influenced by other modern music.
