The Afropop crew is heading out next week to WOMEX, the annual gathering of over two thousand professionals specializing in the world music field—concert and festival presenters, record label people, conventional and new media journalists, artist managers, and of course the artists themselves. WOMEX will be held this year in Copenhagen, Denmark. The dates are Oct. 28-November 1.

There are some 30 acts that will be presented on several stages. Afropop will be recording numerous interviews and concerts. Heading the delegation will be Afropop Worldwide Executive Producer Sean Barlow. He says “Several of these artists we’ve presented on our show already. But many we’ve never met in person or seen their live concerts. So I’m excited to be able to connect our on air and on-line audiences with Congolese sensation Staff Benda Bilili, Brazil’s SpocFrevo Orchestra, the Addis Acoustic Renaissance Group, Jamaica’s Gilzene and the Blue Light Mento Band, Kenya’s Kenge Kenge, Colombia’s Chocquibtown and several others.”
